We make direct measurements of ocean microstructure using high resolution shear probes, thermistors and ADCPs, including mounted on Slocum gliders on the Scotian Shelf. These measurements often allow us to calculate both the dissipation rates of Turbulent Kinetic Energy (TKE) and temperature variance, which can be linked to ocean mixing.
